Connor Zilisch Set for Full-Time NASCAR Cup Series Debut in 2026

After years of steady progression through the ranks, Connor Zilisch is officially stepping up to the big leagues. Trackhouse Racing announced that Zilisch will join the NASCAR Cup Series full-time in 2026, signing a multi-year agreement that marks a significant milestone in the young driver’s career. This promotion comes as no surprise to fans who have watched Zilisch dominate in the Xfinity Series, but it is nonetheless a thrilling development for the sport.

Zilisch, who has been part of the Trackhouse development program since 2024, has already proven he has what it takes to compete at the highest levels. In 2025, driving for JR Motorsports in the Xfinity Series, he racked up seven race wins, showcasing a rare combination of speed, skill, and consistency. His performance caught the attention of many, further solidifying the belief that a move to the Cup Series was imminent.

The 2025 season, however, hasn’t been without its challenges. Just two weeks ago, Zilisch suffered an unusual accident in victory lane when he fell from the top of his car, sustaining a collarbone injury that required surgery. Despite the setback, Zilisch returned to the track for the next race at Daytona International Speedway. Due to his recovery, reserve driver Parker Kligerman took over for him and drove the car to victory lane, with Zilisch still receiving credit for the win. Moments like these highlight both the risks and the unpredictability inherent in motorsports—and Zilisch handled the situation with professionalism and determination.

The timing of Zilisch’s promotion also coincides with a major change at Trackhouse Racing. Daniel Suarez, who has piloted the team’s No. 99 car since the team’s debut in 2021, will be departing at the end of the 2025 season. Suarez’s exit opens the door for Zilisch to step into a premier ride and continue the team’s competitive legacy at the Cup level.

For Zilisch, the promotion is the realization of a long-held dream. “This day has been a dream of mine for a long time,” he said in an official Trackhouse Racing release. “Cup racing has been the goal since joining with Chevrolet and Trackhouse, and while I didn’t know it would come this soon, I feel like I’m ready. I know the challenge that awaits entering the Cup Series as a full-time driver, but I feel that with the support of Trackhouse and Chevrolet, this is the right situation for me.”

Zilisch also made it clear that, despite the excitement surrounding his debut, he is approaching the next chapter with focus and humility. “I won’t be making any predictions for success next year,” he admitted. “All I promise is to put in 100 percent effort, learn all that I can, plus have a little bit of fun along the way!” His comments reflect a maturity beyond his years and a commitment to growth—a mindset that will serve him well as he takes on NASCAR’s top-tier competition.

As the 2026 season approaches, fans will be eager to see how Connor Zilisch adapts to the Cup Series. With talent, determination, and the backing of Trackhouse Racing and Chevrolet, he’s well-positioned to make an immediate impact. The road ahead will be challenging, but for Zilisch, the opportunity to race among the sport’s elite is a dream realized—and one that promises to be full of exciting moments for years to come.
