In yet another Formula 1 race, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen clinched victory at the Chinese Grand Prix, maintaining his dominance with his fourth win in five races this season and his 23rd in the last 27 races stretching back to last season. Despite a brief setback during a pit stop, Verstappen powered ahead to secure the win, with Lando Norris of McLaren finishing second and Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez in third. The race saw several safety car interventions due to incidents involving various drivers. Verstappen’s triumph also extended to Saturday’s sprint race, although he expressed reservations about the additional stress it puts on mechanics and engineers. With the race marking the return of F1 to China after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, local favorite Zhou Guanyu finished 14th, possibly his last chance to race at home before driver lineups shuffle next season. Looking ahead, the competition for podium places remains fierce behind Verstappen and Perez, with Mercedes’ George Russell describing it as a battle for positions three through eight. The star-studded event in China saw celebrities like Yao Ming and Eileen Gu adding glamour to the paddock festivities, setting the stage for the upcoming race in Miami on May 5.
