Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 rider Thibault Benistant will miss the closing rounds of the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship after sustaining a knee injury that requires rest and recovery. The Frenchman, who has been a consistent front-runner throughout his career, will not line up in Shanghai, China, or Darwin, Australia, after medical checks confirmed a small fracture in his patella.

Benistant’s injury occurred during the Dutch Grand Prix, where he initially carried on racing despite discomfort. Showing grit and determination, he pushed through the pain at last weekend’s MXGP of Türkiye in Afyonkarahisar, where he managed an impressive eighth-place overall finish. However, once back in France, further medical examinations confirmed the severity of the issue, making it clear that ending his season early was the best decision for his long-term health.

This development brings an emotional close to Benistant’s time with Yamaha. His journey with the brand began in 2018, when he clinched the EMX125 European Championship, followed by the EMX250 title in 2020. Since stepping up to the MX2 class in 2021 with the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory squad, the French rider has cemented his status as one of the sport’s most exciting young talents. Over the past four seasons, he has collected nine race wins, 35 top-three finishes, and 18 overall podiums, including three Grand Prix victories.

Yamaha has expressed deep gratitude for his contribution to the team and the Yamaha family over the past decade. Alexandre Kowalski, Yamaha Motor Europe Off-Road Racing Manager, praised Benistant’s achievements and professionalism, highlighting his growth as an athlete and his role in delivering memorable moments for the team.

Though his season ends prematurely, Benistant’s career trajectory remains highly promising. At just 23 years old, he has already built an impressive résumé, and fans will be eager to see him return stronger when he recovers. For now, the focus is on healing and preparing for the next chapter in his motocross journey.
