The Los Angeles Rams are riding the momentum of their week one victory as they prepare for another tough matchup in week two. The excitement around Sean McVay’s squad continues to build, not only because of the win, but also thanks to the depth and adaptability shown across the roster. On Wednesday in Woodland Hills, the Rams’ coaches and players offered insight into the team’s preparation and mindset.

Defensive standout Jared Verse, who is still settling back into NFL action, didn’t shy away from reflecting on his week one performance and the adjustments he’s making heading into week two. For Verse, the debut was less about perfection and more about progression. “I just wanted to come out and give my all for the team,” he said. “There were some plays I’d like back, but it’s about learning, growing, and making sure I’m better prepared this week.” His honesty and hunger to improve embody the mindset McVay has been instilling in his roster from day one.

But it wasn’t just Verse making headlines. Sean McVay also took time to spotlight an unsung hero from the Rams’ week one win offensive lineman Beaux Limmer. The second-year lineman, who has already shown tremendous versatility, played a key role in stabilizing the offensive front against Detroit.

“You give Beaux a ton of credit,” McVay told reporters. “He came in last year and ended up basically playing the whole year as a center, then gets thrust into action in game one and does a really good job. He’s physical, sturdy in the run game, and he’s continuing to improve in protection. I’m really proud of him.”

McVay highlighted Limmer’s ability to not only handle center duties but also to switch seamlessly across both guard spots. That kind of adaptability is rare in the NFL and invaluable to a team navigating the physical demands of a long season. “For him to play as many snaps as he did, both at left and right guard, that’s huge,” McVay continued. “If you’re not one of those starting five, the more value you can bring whether it’s being a backup center or a flex guard man, that’s a real benefit for us.”

The Rams’ offensive line faced early challenges in week one when Kevin Dotson went down with an injury. Limmer’s ability to shift roles allowed the unit to remain steady, while Steve Avila also stepped up in Dotson’s absence. McVay admitted that if not for their flexibility, the Rams might have been forced into a more unconventional adjustment, possibly asking Warren McClendon to play guard. Instead, the line held its ground and gave quarterback Matthew Stafford the support he needed.

This kind of adaptability speaks volumes about the Rams’ depth and coaching philosophy. McVay has long emphasized the importance of “next man up” mentality, and week one showcased exactly that. Players like Limmer, who embrace versatility and preparation, are proving to be just as important as the big names who dominate headlines.

As the Rams turn their focus to week two, the message is clear: it’s about growth, flexibility, and readiness. Verse is determined to sharpen his game and elevate his impact on defense, while McVay continues to highlight the players who do the dirty work that often goes unnoticed. The Rams’ undefeated start is a testament not only to their stars but also to the unsung contributors who ensure the machine keeps running smoothly.

If week one was about showing resilience and adaptability, week two will be about building on that foundation. With leaders like Verse hungry to improve and linemen like Limmer proving their worth across multiple positions, the Rams are looking every bit like a team prepared to compete deep into the season.
