MORGANTOWN, W\.Va.–The 2025 Women’s Motocross Championship (WMX), sanctioned as an AMA National Championship, is heading into its highly anticipated finale this weekend. After five rounds of intense competition, the series will conclude with a dramatic three-moto showdown at the legendary Budds Creek Motocross Park in Southern Maryland.

A Historic Venue for the Final Showdown

Budds Creek, located just south of Washington, D.C., has long been one of the most iconic venues in U.S. motocross. This year, it will serve as the battleground for the top women riders in the sport as they fight for the championship crown. The season finale will take place during the Yamaha Budds Creek National Finals and span two action-packed days.

Friday, August 22: Two motos will kick off the weekend, setting the tone for the title fight.

Saturday, August 23: The third and final moto will take place in front of the Pro Motocross Championship crowd and be streamed live exclusively on Peacock and the SuperMotocross Video Pass.

With 75 points available across the three motos, every lap will count as the competitors line up for their final opportunity to leave a mark on the 2025 season.

Five Riders, One Championship

The WMX series has been one of the most competitive in recent memory. Heading into Budds Creek, five riders are still mathematically in contention for the championship, each eager to write their name in the history books.

Turner Leads the Way

At the front of the pack is Lachlan Turner, riding for Altus Motorsports BLU CRU Yamaha. The 18-year-old defending champion has once again proven to be the rider to beat. After a near miss at the opening round, Turner hit her stride and went on a dominant run, capturing four consecutive overall wins. She has finished first in seven of the nine motos so far, giving her a 24-point cushion heading into the finale.

Cannon in Pursuit

Hot on Turner’s heels is Charli Cannon, the talented 20-year-old Australian riding for Quad Lock Honda. Cannon’s debut season in the United States has been nothing short of impressive. Despite starting the series with a surgically repaired broken finger, she has battled through adversity and emerged as Turner’s strongest challenger.

Her breakthrough came at the penultimate round at Unadilla, where Cannon secured her first-ever U.S. moto victory after a dramatic last-lap pass on Turner in Moto 1. That moment solidified a growing rivalry between the two riders and has added even more anticipation to the final round.

What’s at Stake

The finale at Budds Creek promises high drama and intense racing. Turner’s consistency makes her the favorite, but with 75 points on the line, a single mistake could swing the championship in Cannon’s favor or even open the door for one of the other three contenders to spring a surprise.

Fans attending the event or watching live will witness a historic moment for women’s motocross, as the sport continues to grow and showcase new levels of talent and competition.

Don’t Miss the Action

With its scenic hills, challenging layout, and passionate crowds, Budds Creek is the perfect venue for this championship-deciding weekend. Whether you’re trackside in Southern Maryland or tuning in live on Peacock and the SuperMotocross Video Pass, the 2025 WMX finale is set to deliver excitement, drama, and unforgettable racing moments.
