Maria Sharapova may have retired from professional tennis, but she hasn’t stepped away from the spotlight. Instead, the former Wimbledon champion has seamlessly transitioned into the world of business — and she’s doing it in style. Her latest venture aims to revolutionize modern office furniture, and it’s a bold move from an athlete who’s never been afraid to challenge expectations.

After officially retiring from tennis in 2020, Sharapova wasted no time exploring her passions off the court. Just a year later, in 2021, she partnered with Rove Concepts to release The Maria Collection, a curated line of contemporary furniture. That debut marked her entry into design and lifestyle branding — an industry far removed from the world of tennis. Now, she’s back with a fresh new concept tailored for the modern professional: elevated home and boardroom office furniture.

Her inspiration for the new collection? A desire to disrupt the monotony of traditional boardroom design.

“I thought that this could be the modern boardroom,” Sharapova told Architectural Digest in a recent interview. “I’ve been in several boardrooms since I retired five years ago, and I wouldn’t say they’re the prettiest things.”

Indeed, Sharapova’s creative eye and hands-on approach have led her to reimagine what a workspace can and should look like — sleek, modern, and far from boring. Her new designs offer an aesthetic upgrade for professionals who want their environment to inspire productivity and style in equal measure.

Sharapova also opened up about the skepticism she initially faced when branching out beyond tennis.

“In all the things that I did outside of the sport, people were initially like, ‘Does she have permission to do that?’” she said.

It’s a sentiment many athletes-turned-entrepreneurs encounter — the assumption that their talents are confined to one arena. But Sharapova has proven time and again that she’s more than just a Grand Slam champion. She’s a savvy businesswoman with an eye for branding, design, and long-term investment.

In addition to her work in furniture design, Sharapova’s other ventures have included her premium candy brand, Sugarpova, which gained international success, and her numerous endorsements and equity investments. All of these have contributed to her growing financial empire, which now sees her net worth estimated at an impressive £130 million.

Sharapova recently made headlines again when she listed her stunning mansion — complete with an indoor bowling alley for £18.5 million. The luxury property, like much of her life, reflects both elegance and ambition.

From center court at Wimbledon to the center of the design world, Maria Sharapova continues to build a brand that transcends sport. Her new home office line isn’t just furniture  it’s a statement. A statement that she’s here not just to participate in the business world, but to lead, innovate, and redefine what’s possible.

With her sharp business acumen and a drive that once earned her five Grand Slam titles, it’s clear that Maria Sharapova is serving up success in more ways than one.
