Chicago Bears Announce Key Roster Moves Ahead of Season

The Chicago Bears have officially announced a series of roster moves as they continue to shape the team heading into the upcoming season. The front office made a number of difficult decisions, part of the natural process as teams trim down and prepare for final roster compliance.

The most notable move was placing defensive back Zah Frazier on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list. This designation means Frazier will be unavailable for the foreseeable future, giving him time to focus on recovery and rehabilitation before potentially returning later.

Alongside that decision, the Bears waived several young players who had been competing for roster spots throughout training camp and preseason action. Those waived include defensive backs Millard Bradford, Alex Cook, and Kaleb Hayes, defensive lineman Xavier Carlton, linebacker Power Echols, quarterback Austin Reed, running back Ian Wheeler, and tight end Joel Wilson. Each of these players showed flashes of promise but ultimately did not secure a place on the final roster.

Additionally, the Bears released a handful of more experienced names. Among them are defensive back Tre Flowers, running back Royce Freeman, and offensive lineman Joshua Miles. Releasing veteran talent is never easy, but it underscores the Bears’ commitment to moving forward with younger players and reshaping the roster to fit the team’s long-term plans.

These moves highlight just how competitive roster battles can be in the NFL. With the regular season fast approaching, the Bears are clearly focused on fielding a roster that balances youth, experience, and depth at key positions. Fans will now turn their attention to how the remaining roster develops as Chicago prepares for the grind on the season ahead.
