Leeds Rhinos are reportedly weighing up the possibility of signing experienced prop forward Matt Lodge, who is expected to be available for the 2026 Super League season. According to Love Rugby League, Lodge, who is currently with the Manly Sea Eagles in the NRL, has been offered to several Super League clubs as he approaches the end of his current contract.

The 30-year-old is off-contract with Manly at the conclusion of the 2025 campaign, and while the Sea Eagles have yet to make any official announcement regarding his future, speculation has been building for months that he could make the move to the UK. This is not the first time Lodge’s name has been linked with a switch to Super League. Throughout his career, the Australian front-rower has been the subject of transfer rumours connecting him to the British game, but circumstances never quite aligned for a move to happen—until now.

Leeds Rhinos’ interest in Lodge comes as the club looks to bolster its forward pack with a mixture of experience, size, and leadership. Known for his physical style of play and aggressive carries, Lodge has carved out a reputation in the NRL as a tough, no-nonsense prop who can lead from the front. That kind of presence could be exactly what Leeds needs to add more punch in the middle of the park, especially as they aim to challenge for top honours in 2026.

However, the Rhinos are not the only side believed to be monitoring Lodge’s availability. With his name being circulated among several clubs, competition for his signature is expected to be fierce. Super League sides in need of a battle-hardened prop—particularly those aiming to strengthen their forward depth—are likely to take a close look at him.

Lodge’s career in the NRL has seen him play for multiple clubs, including the Wests Tigers, Brisbane Broncos, New Zealand Warriors, and most recently, the Manly Sea Eagles. His journey has not been without controversy, but his on-field performances have consistently demonstrated his ability to make an impact at the highest level.

For Leeds, signing Lodge would be a statement of intent, signalling that the club is ready to invest in top-tier talent to achieve its ambitions. Whether the deal materialises will depend on a variety of factors, including contract negotiations, competition from rival clubs, and Lodge’s own willingness to relocate to the UK.

One thing is certain: with his contract winding down and Super League clubs circling, Matt Lodge’s future will be one of the key talking points in rugby league’s transfer market as the 2025 season heads towards its conclusion.
