Seahawks Sever Ties: Recently Signed UDFA Cut Before He Can Even Catch a Breath

June 14, 2025

The Seattle Seahawks have entered the quietest phase of the offseason, where most news over the next five weeks will likely involve suspensions or injuries so no news is usually good news.

That said, the front office stirred up some curiosity and gave fans a reason to hope by opening up a roster spot, cutting an undrafted free agent who had only joined the team about a week earlier.

Mitch Van Vooren spent two seasons playing for the Division III St. Norbert Green Knights after exhausting his track and field eligibility, having competed for five years at Marquette and St. Norbert.

By waiving Van Vooren, the Seahawks have freed up a roster spot, giving the front office the option to bring in a veteran free agent before training camp begins next month—if they determine it’s needed before players report in late July.
