In Gainesville, Florida, the coaching staff of the Florida Gators celebrated their victory in the Stillwater Regional by securing another triumph in the transfer portal. On Wednesday, they successfully landed a commitment from Jacksonville infielder Justin Nadeau, who spent Tuesday and Wednesday visiting the campus.

Nadeau, coming off his sophomore season, brings two years of eligibility to the team. During his freshman year at JU, he showcased his prowess by starting in all 49 games he appeared in, predominantly at second base. He emerged as a key contributor, ranking third in batting average, tied for third in hits, and fourth in on-base percentage for the team. Nadeau’s performance earned him a spot on the ASun All-Freshman team, making him the first JU freshman to achieve the 30 RBI milestone since 2010. Additionally, he demonstrated versatility by excelling in multiple positions and displaying a knack for getting on base and hitting for average.

As the Gators face impending losses due to the MLB Draft and graduation, including key infielders like Jac Caglianone, Tyler Shelnut, Armando Albert, and Dale Thomas, the addition of Nadeau provides a promising solution. With freshman third baseman John Martinez recently entering the transfer portal, the team faces a need for depth in the infield. Nadeau’s ability to play multiple infield positions positions him as a valuable asset in rebuilding the team for the 2025 season.

The commitment from Nadeau comes at a critical time, as the transfer portal sees an influx of talent, with over 3,500 baseball players having entered their names as of June 5th.
